The Kabataan Lab Makerspace Outreach was founded in 2022 as Xcholastika's first step in expanding its thrust & service outside of school walls.
Since then, Kabataan Lab, or KBL, has grown towards becoming Xcholastika's flagship program, championing equity in education. To date, Xcholastika has held 3 iterations of KBL, with the latest iteration being themed around the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Kabataan Lab seeks to innovate education by building after makerspaces, wherein students who visit each makerspace get to explore scientific concepts from all branches of sciences, reaching the full potential of their learning.
The first-ever Kabataan Lab included 8 booths; 2 in Technology, 2 in Chemistry, 2 in Physics, and 2 in Earth Science.
Makerspaces included topics including:
"3D For Free", which let students explore 3D modelling and printing
"One Step at a Time" which let students step into the world of robotics and coding
"Nahuhulog Para Sa'yo" which gave students an introduction into the concepts of gravity
"Innovation in Sanitation" which demonstrated to students on the importance of sanitation
