Tekno Lab, or TKL, was born in 2023 as an interactive lab aimed at bridging the educational gap and offering an immersive learning experience for these children. To date, two iterations of TKL have been held with the scholars of Project Pearls in Tondo, Manila.
An integral program in Xcholastika's project portfolio, TKL seeks to provide assistance to marginalized students through an education makerspace dedicated to teaching up-to-date and easily-digestible robotics concepts and findings.
This project aims to ensure that students can comprehensively understand the fundamental concepts of coding. Moreover, Xcholastika envisions the Tekno Lab project as a torch that will ignite a flame among the younger generations, inspiring them to pursue their passions.
In TKL, volunteers set up coding and circuit board-based activities using VEX and Arduino technology for students to engage with and learn from. Xcholastika aims to inspire its beneficiaries to use higher-order thinking skills to spark interest in modern technology and nurture a deeper appreciation for their applications, which they can personally use in the future. In this way, it is hoped that the students will also consider pursuing STEM further in their studies and their future career paths.
