A Xcholastika-Balik Biyaya Collaboration
Project Buhay Kulay (PBK) is a subproject under Balik Biyaya, focused on providing enrichment activities to students at GSIS Village Elementary School (GSIS VES) in Quezon City. The program aims to deepen students' knowledge in three key areas: Science, Numeracy, Literacy, and Art. Xcholastika members collaborated with PBK in a math-focused Amazing Race session in November 2024.
The mission of PBK is to nurture self-expression, critical thinking, and communication skills in Grade 5 students through engaging activities in science, storytelling, writing, and art. The vision is to empower underprivileged children by equipping them with tools and opportunities to explore their creative and intellectual potential, fostering a love for learning and self-expression that transcends socio-economic barriers.
The program’s activities are planned and facilitated by PBK volunteers, who interact with GSIS VES students on designated session days. Rather than traditional lectures, these sessions employ hands-on experiences and interactive learning to help students develop a meaningful understanding of each subject and engage in self-discovery through a variety of activities.
